Straight ahead and Pose to pose.

Straight ahead and pose to pose are two different ways of animating which have different outcomes (generally). Straight ahead action is where something is animated frame by frame in sequential order. This can cause animation to lose form and action can look unrealistic. Pose to pose is where you animate specific extremes of movement and then fill in the gaps to create realistic movement and keep form.
