Staging.

Staging is an aesthetic ideal for animation, used for exaggerating and bringing your attention or a specific object, character or action.

A good example of staging can be seen in the game Dark Souls. Before nearly all boss fights there is some kind of cut scene showing you the enemy you are about to face, often trying to fill you with dread to exaggerating the difficulty of the game.

These screen captures show the 4 main shots of a boss cut scene, starting with trying to awe you with the architecture and size of your surroundings, followed by a standard staging of a boss. They then take an aerial shot to bring in a second boss, followed by him jumping down and staging the two bosses together, creating increasing amounts of dread throughout the cut scene. (and these bosses DO deserve to be feared)
