Follow through and overlapping action.

Follow through actions are actions which result from movement but accentuate the stopping or starting of movement. things such and cloaks lagging behind when a character runs, or long hair flowing passed a characters head when they stop or turn.

Overlapping action is where different movements happen at the same time at different rates, such as if an arm moves at the same time as a head, but the head moves less and slower.

These screen captures are from the London 2012 olympics game, showing overlapping action from the swimming event.
