This image was created by Yusuke Naora of Square Enix. It is a 3D render of Tetsuya Nomura's character design on Lightning for Final Fantasy XIII. Looking at this picture in terms of composition, it is clear that the image uses very few techniques in terms of the composition, which give the piece a calming, relaxed feel, despite there being a woman holding a very large Gunblade. Through Fibonacci's golden rule, you could draw several guides over this piece to see how everything has been placed. In one way, the rule of thirds has been applied, so Lightning's upper body sits in the center third of the image as the main focus point, the piece is advertising this woman. at the same time, a root 3 hexagon construct could be placed over the center of her body. This would reveal that all the major foreground imagery that is intended for you to focus of fits neatly into this hexagon, although not as poignant as the focus point, it keeps you looking around so the foreground is always in your peripheral vision, bordering on entering your foveal vision. There is also a cross technique which fits this image well, as the character is centralized perfectly, and her head sits half way up the image, right on the stopping line, balancing the image so that the bottom quarters mirror in capacity as do the top quarters.
